I should know better than to root for the single most-slighted
small market team in an already biased league (See: Game 6 of the 2002 Western
Conference Finals). And I should probably know better than to hinge my well
being and sanity on the successes of a group of men who likely have growth
disorders. But I don’t, which is really more of a testament to how few prospects
I have at the moment, but such is life when you’re a woefully underemployed
single dude trying to make it honest.
It kind of sucks that watching my once-beloved Portland Trailblazers has become a tedious exercise in self-loathing but I can live with that, masochism comes pretty naturally to me, in fact. AS LONG AS THEY AREN’T LOSING TO THE TEAM WITH THE SECOND WORST RECORD IN THE EASTERN CONFERENCE. Last night’s loss to the East’s perennial punching bag the Wizards was deplorable. I know Portland lost LaMarcus early on, but how you gonna to let a team that’s been averaging around 90.3 points come into the Rose Quarter and trounce you for damn near 125?
Obviously, fluke losses occur in professional sports, but
dropping a game to arguably the most inept team in the league is beyond my comprehension.
Personally, I’m nearing my threshold of collective delusion that we are a team
worth watching. Why do we still care? Anyone? Is it because we're all dirty perverts? Our love affair with the shame and degradation that is the by product of supporting this team suggests so.

You know OKC lost to the Wizards too right?
You just have to get over this pre-concieved notion that the Blazers are a "good" team. They're not. In fact, they're pretty bad. They have the most bizarre mix of being simultaneously overrated and under appreciated of any NBA team because no one in the national media sees any of their games.
By the way, stay tuned for an upcoming post entitled, "Why LaMarcus Aldridge Shouldn't Be an All-Star" that, while completely correct, is sure to snag Salt some traffic with grade-A Blazersedge flamebait.
